Monetizing Pixel Ad Sites
How You Can Cash In On This Exploding Trend By Giving Your Pixel Ad Site Your Own Unique Twist...
By John Fowler.
What Alex Tew has started has now been copied by thousands of copycat sites all trying to cash in on his idea.
When he started he obviously had zero competition and was able to charge $1 a pixel. One small block contains 100 pixels and is the minimum amount you could purchase.
Now with all this competition it is very unlikely his success will ever be duplicated again the way he did it, and at these prices. That is... unless they have something very unique to offer their advertisers and visitors. In other words, they will need to add a twist on this idea to become successful.
One example would be Targeted Ad's that deal with a specific Audience. Say like one that deals with fishing and hunting for example. All micro ads would fit into this catagory and would target people interested in this field.
Another obstacle that will need to be overcome is the ability to keep attracting the same visitors to keep coming back on a regular basis. Nobody wants to spend money on Advertising if people aren't seeing their Ad's and - more importantly - clicking on them.
One way to achieve this is to give them a financial incentive to keep coming back. YES - Money is still A Great Motivator to Visit Any Site on a continued basis.
How can this be Achieved to benefit the advertiser as well as the surfers looking at the site?
One way might be to set it up on a pay-per-click basis. Advertisers only pay for the clicks they get to their sites.
And surfers are getting paid on a per click basis. Even at a penny per click, you'd be surprised at how many people would sit there and click on sites for a penny and keep coming back to click some more, thus generating a steady flow of traffic. This would be a great way to brand your site, because more then likely the same person would click to that site more then once.
Another way and probably the best way to make a successful pixel page would be to set it up in such a way that the Advertisers and the Visitors are sharing in the profits for making that site so successful.
If you were being paid for showing this site to others, and being paid again when those people tell their contacts about the site, you would have a flood of people constantly visiting that site. Thus creating enough traffic that any web site out there would be willing to buy a micro-ad on the site.
You'd have a constantly growing visitor base, and the Advertisers would have their sites seen by thousands of people looking at their ads on a daily basis.
But to try and copy Alex Tew's origional 'Million Dollar Homepage' idea, and not put any spin on it whatsoever, in my opinion is DOOMED from the beginning.
This brand new online advertising medium is in it's infancy, but one things for sure, it's here to stay and will continue to evolve as new twists on the original idea have yet to even be thought of...
But before many other people decide to take this plunge and invest their time, money and efforts in what it will ULTIMATLY take to make a successful pixel site, I figured I'd better write what else I have learned about this new industry.
I personally have been on several hundreds of these pixel sites that are springing up daily. There are now well over a thousand of them out there. And out of the hundreds that I have been to there is only one that I actually bought pixel space from. They had the majority of all the answers I was looking for as mentioned above, and I have already started to see a good return on my money for placing my pixel ad there.
98% of all the pixel sites are basically all the same and most likely I will never return to them. There just isn't any reason for me (or really anybody) to go back once you've been there. The owners of these sites are going to be constantly struggling to attract new visitors to justify their prices to advertisers that have already paid for advertising with them.
One thing that I have recently noticed and which seems to be working is that some pixel sites are offering a percentage of their pixel space for FREE. It's usually located on the bottom of the page, but never the less you can place a Free pixel with a link back to your sites.
Now let's think about that for a minute...
By offering Free pixel space to Advertisers, they are giving you the opportunity to not only create a link directly back to you on their front page (higher rankings for your website), but also the opportunity to test out their pixel site before actually buying space up top for a paid ad.
I have traveled down this brand new road - also known as micro-advertising - trying to learn everything I can about it, and spot the leaders in this New Industry as they are coming online. I have so far found just a little over 90 of these sites where you can actually get Free Pixel Advertising on them. And I decided to do a little test along the way as I have been placing my free little micro-ads wherever I can.
I put tracking links on all of them so I can see exactly how many hits these little links are generating. And I can easily change what site they are pointing at, simply by changing where my tracking link is heading.
I must say, so far I am impressed with the amount of Free extra traffic this is creating on a daily basis. I have created so many of these little ads now that it only takes just a few minutes to place a one when I run across a new site.
Sure, maybe placing one or two or even 10 probably won't make that much of difference on your hits counter. But when you start getting close to 100 links pointing back to you, then it seems to be pulling a good steady average of visitors every single day just like clockwork.
I actually started compiling this list on a free website. Mainly for my own use to keep track of them all. Anybody who hasn't placed a pixel ad before and is curious how it's actually done, you're welcome to try out any of the free.pixeladsite.net free sites where they all offer some sort of Free pixel space:

Even though giving away free Pixel Space may seem like a loosing proposition to incorporate into a pixel site, when you think about it, it's actually a very good idea. These are also the sites that have the most pixels for visitors to look at, and in and by itself this helps create some steady traffic.
Besides, it's only a matter of time before someone comes up with an idea how to make a Free Pixel Site actually make them money. :)
